Spring Break Vacation

For the first time in my teaching career, I was actually able to respond to the question, "Are you going anywhere for spring break?" And that response wasn't a no.

It's been a long time since I've had a genuine feel of excitement, like that of a little kid, that robust anticipation that eats at your insides so you can't sleep, eat, do anything until you are at your destination.

After monitoring the weather for the past week, I am convinced that our trip to Myrtle Beach, SC will be successful.

A dreary cloud has been sitting ontop of Indiana lately. It's been raining and the ground feels like an old, dirty sponge whenever you walk on it. I am ready to leave the state, go down south and visit all the Sonic Drive-Ins I possibly can (the goal is to go to happy hour everyday for half-off drinks).

We don't leave for another bajillion hours though. We can't check in until tomorrow at 3 p.m. and we don't want to leave on Sunday and miss an entire day there, so we'll be driving overnight. I wanted to get up early this morning, sit around, and then take a really long nap this afternoon before we leave, that way I can stay awake for the 12-hour drive. I'm a bit nervous because I've never done anything like this before. Steph has, so she doesn't care. We packed most of our clothes yesterday, so it's a matter of figuring out what we'll do for dinner (there's a kitchen in the condo, so we'll be cooking instead of eating out...it's cheaper) and what's the best route there.

Not that I have a lot of constant readers, but that is where I'll be.
