I've decided to take the day off. Featured today are the musings of Steph, my wife, and the beginning of a story about a young woman's dream. Will this dream come true? I think we can all connect and find a little Lurleeta in ourselves.
As she stood in among the lilies in the garden, Lurleeta contemplated Leland’s last comment.
“But I don’t understand why you think it would be so hard for me to get ahead – the neighbors all say I have a lovely voice,” she said.
“I’m not saying you’re a bad singer, dear, I’m just saying that I’m not sure the country music world is ready for someone of our stature.”
Lurleeta’s stature was a statuesque 18” tall. Even though the other yard gnomes considered her one of the prettiest in the neighborhood, Leland was not convinced that she could make it amongst the full-grown human women in a land where a woman’s beauty and figure could instantly deem her a star.
Lurleeta pouted. She knew her standard gingham square dancing dress wasn’t the fanciest outfit in Nashville, but it had character. Just like Lurleeta.
