I'm not sure what spurred the florals. I was working in my notebook one afternoon and tried to paint a peony. My first attempt was bad, but my second attempt wasn't too shabby. A couple weeks later, after going through my notebook on a dreary afternoon, I realized the pages were missing something. So, I went back over them with black ink, inspired by my wife's tattoo.
Too shy to try and go big, I cut up watercolor paper into 4x6 in. rectangles to see what I could accomplish. I have a feeling this style may stick around as I continue to learn, study and perfect.
All these are original, 4x6 paintings.
